To Represent

Writing an entry from my other blog made me think of something. In my other blog, I was talking about how we are imperfect people.

I have heard multiple times that this Church is a perfect church with imperfect people. It was started by the only perfect man to walk this earth, our Lord Jesus Christ. Well I can attest that I am an imperfect person.

But what I think is amazing is that He trusts us. He trusts me, an imperfect person, to be an official representative of His church to teach the people in Mexico. He trusts me, because He believes in me and knows of the ways, I not yet know, that I can help my brothers and sisters down there.

I am one small person. But I am enough. I think of Moses, a prophet who was slow of speech. He didn't quite understand why the Lord had chosen him to be a leader, but there was something in him that was just right for the Lord's plan. Look what he did. He delivered his people from bondage.

We are imperfect people, but with His help, we can experience miracles.

To Help

I've heard mission stories where a missionary and his/her companion comes in acquaintance with someone is not completely happy with their life. Either they've had a rough past, are still in that kind of position or just feel like something is missing and they haven't found what it is yet. But once they are introduced to the missionaries and through learning the gospel, their life turns a 180.

I want that experience. I want to help people find what they can't find on their own. I want people to feel Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ's love for them, as I feel it in my own life. I want to make a difference in someone's life. I remember for my grade nine farewell, our theme was dreams. Each person was given a thought bubble and in that bubble we had to put down something we wanted to do in our lives. Bet you can guess what I put. I put something along the lines of 'change someone's life for the better'. What better opportunity than to go on a mission.

On Facebook, there is a group for potential, current (for those that can have Facebook on their missions), and returned sister missionaries called Many are called .... but few are sisters. I love it. There's this one girl, Charlotte, that posted a video about her conversion, and I thought it was so cool and I'd like to share it.

She has a mission call now and she'll be serving in the Canada Calgary mission. Here is her story.

He Knows Us

Even when we may not know ourselves and question what we are doing here and what our purpose is, our Heavenly Father does. It's crazy. When I was a baby, my mom kept an LDS baby book for me. One of the pages is designated for the baby blessing, and my mom (or someone) recorded some of things that were said during it.

I was less than 2 months old when my baby blessing was given. As I read it now, 5 months shy of being 20, it helps emphasizes to me how much Heavenly Father knows us. The things that were said of me are things I recognize myself doing mow. There is no way that is coincidence. No way at all. Quite a few of these items remind me of things that were said in my patriarchal blessing that I received a few months ago.

One of the things it mentioned is a mission. I remember a few years ago I was looking at this page I saw mission and was confused. It was not something I had planned on doing. That's when mission age for women was still 21, in my young eyes 21 seemed old and I had a plan that I was going to graduate high school, go to post secondary and go on with my life. But as is known, I have decided to go on a mission and I AM SO EXCITED! This little snippet can be elaborated at a different time. So look to that, as I do want to share my experience in making this decision sometime.

Of course, it's not just through a baby blessing that I know He knows us.  It's been all throughout my life. It's been through all the many experiences he's given me. Some that I will elaborate on in future posts.

I think of a primary song I sang in Primary with the first lines being "I lived in heaven a long time ago." We lived with Him, how could He not know us.
